“After the end of June, you don’t stop being GAY.”

This sentiment echoed throughout Gender Festival 2025, a timely reminder that Pride isn’t just a celebration, it's a daily reality, a foundation of identity and existence.

At the end of June, we are spotlighting a powerful celebration of identity, dialogue, and progress, Gender Festival 2025 hosted by the Social Science Division and International relations and global affairs (IRGA) at Mahidol University International College (MUIC). In honor of Pride Month, this festival opened up space for students and thought leaders to unpack, question, and reimagine what gender, equality, and love look like today.

Promotion was carried out through posters that were created in collaboration with student ambassadors from the Social Science Division and the International Relations and Global Affairs (IRGA) program at Mahidol University International College (MUIC).

"The Path to Marriage Equality” A panel discussion on Marriage Equality from three perspectives from three different countries who have legalized same-sex marriage.

With

  • H.E. Remco van Wijngaarden - Ambassador of the Netherlands to Thailand

  • Jerry Chou - Director of the Political Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand

  • Tunyawaj Kamolwongwat - Member of the Thai Parliament from The People’s Party

Followed by a student debate on the same topic from the MUIC Debate Club.

Ending with “Sex Education and Queer Embodiment” A workshop with the purpose of dispelling misconceptions about sexual health for queer and trans individuals. With inclusive games and medias to help participants understand more about their bodies, facilitated by Mr. Adrian Beyer.

Each speaker offered a unique lens, political, personal, and cultural on how policy can transform lives, and why Thailand might be closer to that future than we think.

The conversation continued with a student debate by the MUIC Debate Club, where passionate students brought theory into real-world thinking, grounding their arguments in empathy and activism.

Events like this show the importance of bridging knowledge with creativity. By striking a balance between academic discussion and personal expression, Gender Festival 2025 reminds us that creativity is not just a tool for communication, it’s a catalyst for empathy, inclusion, and meaningful change. At Saan Lab, we believe that supporting this kind of creative dialogue is essential to building a more thoughtful and equitable future.
